Gain academic credit for your research

You can receive academic credit for research by registering for Supervised Research, which in some cases can count towards your degree requirements.

Undergraduate research programs such as Integrated Freshman Learning Experience (IFLE), Science, Technology, and Research Scholars (STARS) give students interested in research the opportunity to work in a lab as early as their freshman year. Students in IFLE begin conducting research with the guidance of a faculty mentor the summer before their first year in college.

Opportunities to present, publish, and be recognized

Psychology and neuroscience majors present their research findings at conferences held on campus such as the Midwest Undergraduate Cognitive Science Conference and Indiana University Undergraduate Research Conference

You may also travel to conferences that highlight undergraduate research sponsored by other universities or professional organizations. Exceptional students have been included as co-authors on a poster or presentation made by a faculty member or graduate student at a national scientific conference.

You can publish your findings in the Indiana University Journal of Undergraduate Research
